For you
we destroy ourselves.
Our livers, our minds,
our sense of self.
My sense of self.
Life is full of little puzzles.
And some are designed to be beaten
or broke
and some
are designed
to beat
to break.
But the really puzzling part:
each step I take away,
you take two towards.
And by the time you look down
and notice your hands are wet,
the damage is already done.
This is me and him!!!! Brilliant.
((I see emotional stealth —lovely 😉
Funnily enough,
I was just reading some poems on your site
and thinking of past relationships
when I wrote this.
I find that in the summer months my mind moves to the thought of women more and more, but all the romantic encounters I’ve ever had have begun in the winter…Odd.
sometimes i wonder what infinitely wise being thought they were doing us a favor by causing us to be attracted to the opposite sex…….
Life is full of little puzzles.
And some are designed to be beaten
or broke
and some
are designed
to beat
to break.
But the really puzzling part:
each step I take away,
you take two towards.
I like all aspects of this…
regarding relationships starting in winter – the holiday warmth can turn one’s heart toward the nest, the open air spawns inclinations to new pastures.
This is strong worded, and shows their strength as well. Well done.
